Tamiya Leopard 2 A7V 1/16 Scale Radio-Controlled Battle Tank
TAMIYA 56047
1/16-scale radio-controlled battle tank model kit
- A faithful and detailed reproduction of the Leopard 2 A7V. The muscular contours of the Leopard 2 A7V, featuring its 120mm L/55 gun, are faithfully reproduced thanks to extensive research on the actual tank. All differences from the Tamiya Leopard 2 A6 version ref: 56020 have been taken into account.
- Like the real vehicle, the model features an independent wheel suspension with torsion bars for optimal mobility. It includes cast metal suspension arms (plastic for the Leopard 2 A6 Tamiya ref: 56020) for enhanced quality and reliability.
- The pre-assembled tracks are fitted with rubber track pads.
- The gun barrel is made of lathed aluminum.
- The new DMD T-12 Control Unit allows you to control the gun* and adjust the sound volume from the transmitter, which was not possible on the Leopard 2 A6 Tamiya. *This system controls gun elevation and turret orientation, keeping the gun pointed in the same direction (target lock-on while the model is moving).
- The control unit uses 4 channels to control forward/backward movement, sharp turns, and pivots at any speed. Gun elevation, recoil, and turret rotation can also be controlled. Engine sounds are synchronized with the model’s speed, while cannon and machine gun fire are realistically accompanied by light and sound effects (enabled by the DMD multifunction unit).
- The DMD control unit and battery pack are installed inside the turret. The turret top is easily removable (secured by pins) and allows for easy replacement of the battery pack. Additionally, a magnetically secured hatch at the rear of the turret provides quick access to the power and configuration switches.
- This radio-controlled battle tank is compatible with the Tamiya combat simulation system, ref. 53447 (sold separately).
- Comes with two 540-type motors for propulsion, one 130-type motor for turret rotation, one TSU-03 servo for gun elevation, and one 130-type motor for gun recoil.
Equipped with the advanced DMD unit
The Leopard 2 A7V tank uses the new T-12 DMD unit, which offers more features than any other Tamiya R/C tank. The T-12 unit synchronizes the engine sound (which was digitally recorded from a real Leopard tank diesel engine) with the tank’s movements and controls various lighting combinations that can be easily activated via the transmitter. Turret rotation, gun elevation, and firing sounds also add to the realism of this model. The T-12 unit and the 7.2V battery are mounted inside the turret for quick and easy access.
Synchronized Sound and Light Effects
A speaker is mounted in the center of the hull, and a xenon flash tube is used to make the shots more convincing. When firing, the main gun recoils and then smoothly returns to its initial position thanks to a gearbox located in the turret. These movements are paired with sound effects digitally recorded from the actual tank.
High-Mobility Transmission
The Leopard 2 A7V radio-controlled tank is powered by two high-torque 540-type motors. A specially designed gearbox ensures smooth power transmission at both low and high speeds. This system faithfully replicates the transmission of the actual tank. One motor controls forward and reverse movement, while the other motor allows the tank to turn and swivel. The suspension is equipped with torsion bars, which give this model excellent mobility.
Smooth Turret and Gun Movement
To achieve smooth rotation, the turret’s bearing system has been equipped with 20 steel balls. The new gun elevation and recoil system uses a servomotor for more realistic movements. When the turret rotates with the gun in the lowered position, the gun automatically raises and returns to its initial position to avoid hitting the engine hood, just like on a real battle tank.
Seven lighting modes
The Leopard 2 A7V R/C radio-controlled tank is equipped with several functional lights, such as headlights, taillights, brake lights, blackout lights, and turn signals. The model offers 7 lighting combinations: 4 for the tank during combat operations and 3 during non-combat operations. The main gun and machine gun also flash when firing.
Metal Parts for Greater Precision
This radio-controlled battle tank kit includes die-cast gears and a lathe-machined aluminum gun barrel. The tracks, equipped with rubber track pads just like the real tank, come pre-assembled. To achieve an even more striking sense of realism, many parts have been reproduced using photo-etched parts, such as the grilles on the turret’s side hatches and the grilles on the engine compartment’s cooling fans.
