The Folkeboot is a very popular sailboat, and not only in Germany. It's a simple but very seaworthy boat, specially built for the Baltic Sea. It can accommodate a crew of two to four people, and is equally suited to cruising and sports regattas. The Folkeboot is a long-keel, Bermuda-rigged boat. It features the S-shape typical of wooden yachts and a flat stern with attached rudder.

The classic Folkeboot hull is made of wood and clinker-built. This construction method was also chosen for the model in order to retain the charm of this wonderful Nordic wooden construction. Accordingly, the frames and the entire clinker planking are precisely laser-cut. The high-quality plywood can be stained in the desired wood color and then clear varnished. Folkeboot sailboats were built from a wide variety of domestic woods. Assembly requires precise work, but is not difficult due to the high degree of prefabrication of the parts.

In addition to all the laser-cut wooden parts, the RC model kit contains all the fittings for a fully functional model, and the deck is already pre-engraved. The sails are already pre-cut and must be glued together with the enclosed adhesive tape and reinforcing tape and can then also be sewn together. The mast is assembled from several layers of plywood parts and sanded.

The keel ballast ref: ACKR20391 is specially casted and must be ordered in addition to the kit to obtain a complete model. Due to its heavy weight, this ballast is not included in the construction kit. It already has embedded threaded rods and is screwed to the wooden keel.

The basic version of the kit is equipped with a self-tacking jib with jib boom, which is easier to handle for model sailing. This version requires just one winch servo for both sails.
For experienced modelers, a larger jib sail is available with accessories under ref: ACKR20392 (not yet available), which is then pulled across the mast when tacking using two additional servo winches. This offers a demanding tacking option, very faithful to the original, but requiring a little skill and practice. This variant can also be retrofitted.
