The Palamós takes its name from one of the major fishing ports of the Costa Brava. It represents the small-scale fishing boats that supported coastal villages along the Mediterranean throughout the 20th century. These boats were hand-built in small local shipyards. Their versatile hulls were well suited to coastal waters. They set out at dawn and returned to port with the day’s catch for the fish market.
