Presentation of the Hermione:

The Hermione was a French warship in service from 1779 to 1793. She is a 12-gun frigate (in reference to the caliber of her guns) carrying 26 12-pounder guns and 8 additional 6-pounder guns. In naval jargon, she is known as a "26-gun frigate", although she originally carried 34 guns. She is one of the Concorde-class frigates, built from 1777 onwards at the Rochefort arsenal.

She is famous for having taken the Marquis de La Fayette on his second crossing to the United States in 1780, enabling him to join the American insurgents fighting for their independence.

Several frigates in the French Navy have borne this mythological name. Another Hermione was built under the First Empire at the Lorient arsenal by the Crucy brothers' company.

In 1793, the Hermione was engaged at the mouth of the Loire to support Republican troops against the Vendéens. As she left the estuary on September 20, she hit a rock and sank on the Plateau du Four, off Le Croisic.

The scale replica of the legendary French ship was made from the original plans, then created by 3D design, making it a 100% new model. Our passion for craftsmanship is immense.

The kit contains high-quality parts: high-precision laser-cut plywood; birch wood and veneer; numerous wood, metal and brass accessories; high-quality photoetched brass details; and everything you need to make this classic French ship a pleasure to build.

The cotton sails are hand-sewn and ready to place on the model itself. As a bonus, there's a stand to display the model once it's finished.

The kit comes with a DVD which not only contains a super-detailed, step-by-step assembly guide with over 2,000 images in total, but also videos showing modeling techniques and tricks used by the professionals.
The DVD does not contain printed instructions: You can download the digital instructions free of charge by clicking on the links below.

As complementary sets to complete the model and give it added realism, the modeler can purchase a Set of 14 metal figurines (22517-F) to assemble and paint (kit sold separately). There's also a pack of acrylic paints for the Hermione La Fayette model (ref: FPAL277PACK4) (kit sold separately, see "accessories"). Clearly, they bring soul and realism to the miniature replica.
