All-wood kit HMS Bounty 1/45
OCCRE 14006
All-wood construction kit of the 1/45 scale model of this famous ship.
Built in 1783 as a cargo ship, the Bounty joined the Royal Navy in 1787 to transport breadfruit between Tahiti and the Caribbean. The breadfruit was intended to provide cheap food for the slaves working on the sugar cane plantations.
The ship sailed from England on December 23, 1787 under the command of Commander William Bligh. It arrived in Tahiti later than planned, after a ten-month voyage. This delay meant she had to wait 5 months before setting sail again for the Caribbean, her final destination. A mutiny led by Fletcher Christian broke out on board during the voyage.
The mutineers forced Captain Bligh and 18 loyal sailors into a canoe. Bligh succeeded in reaching the island of Timor after a 41-day crossing.
The wooden model ship box contains everything needed to build the model. The parts are made of laser-cut wood, and the complete fittings are supplied in wood or metal. Sails are delivered cut and sewn. This model is designed for experienced builders. The hull is made of double planking. The port side is partially open to show the ship's interior.
A multilingual manual fully illustrated with photos is supplied (see link below to download).
