The Unsinkable Legend: A Masterpiece of Modeling
The RMS Titanic continues to captivate the world long after its 1912 maiden voyage. This OcCre kit allows you to rebuild the "Ship of Dreams" in exquisite detail. From the massive hull to the intricate deck structures and the iconic four funnels, every element is designed to provide a rewarding and educational challenge.
On April 10, 1912, the Titanic, the world's largest and most luxurious transatlantic liner, set out on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York.
An event that claimed the lives of 1,495 people, and gave rise to the greatest legend in the history of maritime navigation. The Titanic only had lifeboats for 1,200 passengers, yet there were almost 2,223 on board.
In the early hours of April 15, 1912, the Titanic struck an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland. The sinking of the Titanic was the biggest in the history of peacetime shipping. 1,518 people lost their lives. Only 711 of the 2,223 survived.
Myths and legends surrounding the fatal sinking were born, making the Titanic probably the most famous ship in the world.
For many years, historians, treasure hunters, oceanographers and entrepreneurs searched for traces of the sinking. Finally, the remains of the ship were discovered on September 1, 1985 by Robert Ballard during a secret mission for the U.S. Army. The wreck of the Titanic was located at a depth of 3784 meters, some 800 km off the coast of Canada.
The Titanic's lights went out minutes before she disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean, and with her the dream of reaching New York.
