Bounty Boat Wooden Model Kit – 1:24
OcCre 52003
The Bounty’s launch, a legendary voyage
On 28 April 1789, in the middle of the Pacific, the crew of HMS Bounty mutinied under Fletcher Christian. Lieutenant William Bligh was cast adrift with 18 loyal men in an open launch, with only meagre supplies. Against all odds, Bligh sailed the overloaded boat more than 5,800 km to the island of Timor, which he reached on 14 June. The mutiny has inspired many films, but it is this small boat that remains one of the greatest feats of seamanship in maritime history.
