Kit to build the famous ship of Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
The Calypso was built in the USA in 1942 as a minesweeper. She was bought in 1950 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and after extensive changes and modifications has become a fully equipped ocean research vessel, complete with observation chamber in the stern, oval diving bell, Galaezzi diving chamber, inflatable boat for shallow waters, helicopter and much other submarine equipment. Length 42 m, tonnage 360 tons, speed 12 knots.
The Billing Boats model was made according to the original plans and with the kind cooperation of the Cousteau Foundation.
The kit contains all the material needed for the building of the model:
- ABS plastic hull
- Wooden deck and superstructure
- Brass fittings
- Submarine, helicopter, canoes and plastic platform, etc...
- Propeller shafts Ø4mm M4
- stern tubes and plastic tripal propellers Ø40mm provided.
