Build the renovated 2023 edition of the magnificent 1:50 scale model of the Sanson, a classic deepwater tugboat from the last century. Aimed at modelers with an initiated level of skill and knowledge, it's also a feasible model for beginners, since the instructions are on video so assembly is easier. In this sense, the assembly instructions have been greatly improved, so the building experience is much more enjoyable and less difficult. What's more, its construction system using a false keel and ribs brings the assembly of your model much closer to that of the real ship.

This elegant, faithful miniature replica of the wooden tugboat Sanson is suitable for radio-controlled (R/C) navigation. The boat's hull allows it to be both a static and an R/C model, with hollowed-out frames and comfortable access to the interior. Add a motor to get it sailing!

The model is designed to be illuminated with our LED Illumination Kit (27590) - for sale separately - both the boat and the base itself.

This edition comes with a wooden display base with nameplate.

And for those who like a challenge, the boat is also prepared to include a smoke generation system. This will give your model even more realism -the system is not included in the kit-.

The tugboat Sanson kit contains all the parts you need to build your model: 7 sheets of high-precision laser-cut plywood, as well as birch rods and round rods, and oak veneers. The use of oak results in a much more realistic model, and avoids the use of wood from tropical forests. It also comes with 1 photo-etched plate with many beautiful details, plus accessories such as castings, round brass rods, wires, wooden pole holders and much more.

For assembly, you can follow our comprehensive step-by-step video guide. It's like a model shipbuilding course taught by our professional modeler. The kit does not include printed instructions. Once built, the Sanson model is 605 mm long, 130 mm wide and 350 mm high.
