Yacht Admiral 1/20 Billing Boats
Billing Boats 619
All-wood construction kit of an immediate post-war yacht. Classic plank and frame construction.
The Admiral from DMI (Dansk Modelflyve Industri) is a true classic of mid-twentieth-century model shipbuilding, and is still remembered by enthusiasts today. Originally launched in 1965, this kit represented one of the company's finest wooden cabin boat models, designed to reflect the elegance of post-war motor yachts. With its clean lines, long foredeck and spacious superstructure, the Admiral echoed the visual DNA of the elegant pleasure boats of the 1950s and 1960s. At around one meter (100 cm) in length, she had a real presence on the water, offering enthusiasts not only a fine showpiece, but also a model with excellent sailing potential for the era. The DMI Admiral is more than just a vintage model, it's a piece of model shipbuilding history. From its beginnings as an affordable wooden kit in the 1960s to its evolution into a radio-controlled classic with modern electronics, it has remained a cherished symbol of elegance, craftsmanship and enduring enjoyment of model shipbuilding.
Here's how an advert for this type of boat might have been imagined in those days:
"Step right up, folks, and feast your eyes on the new Admiral cruiser-the very picture of post-war progress! Fashioned entirely from fine, shipwright-cut timber and shaped by those clever Scandinavian stylists, this trim beauty slices through the brine as smooth as a hot knife through butter. Her saucy, lifted bow leads a slender hull that seems to glide on air, while broad picture-window ports bathe the salon in glorious daylight, turning every outing into a sun-splashed holiday. Polished chrome appointments sparkle like a Cadillac bumper, and the smart, flat coach-roof with its tasteful aft cut-out lends a silhouette so modern it might have strolled off Tomorrowland itself. Cast off the lines, open the throttle, and feel the wide-open freedom of the Atomic Age-Admiral puts the style of tomorrow in your hands today!"
The box contains all the components needed to build the model, including laser-cut wooden parts, photoetched metal parts and fittings. Radio control and propulsion hardware must be purchased separately. Propeller shaft, 50mm brass propeller and rudder are supplied.
